For my last post from PFO, thought I'd just show you a few pics from this week! I got to enjoy some memphis BBQ (twice!), once with the Kenya group, and then again at a banquet thrown for us by the amazing organization I am now a part of, NICS. As exhausting as these past two weeks were, they were just as equally wonderful. I have made friendships with girls that will be my new family for some time to come. I have learned tons and tons of new info and now feel quite prepared to go out into the mission field. I am so excited!!!! 20 days and counting til' take off to Kenya. I will try and stay updated on all the amazing things I know God is going to do in the days to come and will continue with the fun posts from Kenya. Thanks to all who are praying. They are being felt and are being answered!
At the age of twenty, I was helping my mom in her classroom, just like I had done for years. For some reason, on this particular day, God made it clear to me teaching was what I was called to do. Not only could I put into practice everything I love, but He was going to use the skills from teaching to take me to Africa to teach. It soon became a sort of joke that I was one day going to live in a hut and teach by candlelight. Well, I'm not going to live in a hut, and there may be times when I need to rely on candlelight, but the desire to go and be a missionary in Africa has finally become a reality. God shut the doors to teaching in America and widely opened the doors to teach at West Nairobi School in Africa. I have been amazed by God's faithfulness to make my dream a reality and I am taking a leap of faith to see why he has placed such a desire on my heart. So here I go...off to Kenya! I have a feeling this is going to be an unforgettable and life changing experience!
